As enthusiasts ourselves, our aim is to give the local and international members of the VAG community an opportunity to see the latest and very best of what there is to offer for their cars as well as meet the people behind the products and services. VAGKRAFT 2010 STATS

VAGKRAFT’s fourth year was a milestone year. Moving to a new location meant starting from square 1 in terms of layout and logistics. And with the weather forecasting nothing but rain, we didn’t know what the day would have in store for us. All in all, despite the weather, we pulled off a successful event, gathering a large attendance of visitors, registrants and sponsors nevertheless. Feedback from visitors and sponsors was positive. Rain or shine we continue to attract enthusiasts, both local and from outside the country, to come out to see what the Canadian flavour of VAG tuning and styling is all about. We featured our four regular events: Show Car, Auto Slalom, Dyno, and Sound Off, and added a fifth event, the Burnout which proved to be a real crowd pleaser. Each of our regular events awarded first, second, and third prizes for achievement. The Burnout’s winner was determined by the more than enthusiastic spectators. Thanks to the continued support from our sponsors and the enthusiasm of the VW/Audi community, the success of the show continues to grow, with more and more people travelling great distances to participate.

See below for our 2010 numbers and how we’ve grown since 2007.

  • Over 1400 tickets sold – This while pouring rain all day – (compared to over 1700 in 2009, over 1200 in 2008 and over 800 in 2007)
  • Over 340 cars registered across 5 events (compared to 250 cars in 2009, over 230 cars in 2008, and over 150 in 2007)
  • Awarded 76 trophies (compared to 75 in 2009, and 40 in both 2007 and 2008) with an additional special trophy for first place winners.
  • Support from 32 sponsors/venders including VW of Canada (compared to 32 in 2009, 30 in 2008, and 24 in 2007)
  • Close to 1800 people in attendance over the course of the day (compared to almost 2000 in 2009, over 1500 in 2008, and 1000 in 2007)

IMPROVEMENTS FOR 2011

2011 marks VAGKRAFT’s 5th year. To celebrate this anniversary year we have a few special things brewing. We will update you with our ideas in the coming weeks, stay tuned. Last year we moved the show to Downsview Park. We would have returned there this year but unfortunately the same space wasn’t available anymore due to changes in tenancy. As a result we are happy to return to The Powerade Centre which was our faithful home to us for three years. To accommodate the growth of the show, we will take some of the ideas applied to last year’s show at Downsview Park and put them to work at The Powerade Centre to manage the space more efficiently. Here’s what you can expect from this year’s event.

  • An anticipated 35% increase in participants and visitors this year.
  • In addition to our unique europlate trophies, we will award a special trophy for first place winners, people's choice, and best of show.
  • Continued use of a traditional roller dyno which has proven to be very efficient, allowing us to fit a large number of cars in during the course of the day.
  • More promotional material is in the works for this year's show, with more prizes for the give away.
  • Special 5th year anniversary merchandise and promotions
  • Continued use of our advertising media, exposing you to both the local and international scene.
  • Updated website with e-store, blog, and monthly sponsor spotlights.
  • VAGKRAFT scavenger hunt, designed to bring the public into your shops.
  • VAGKRAFT Calendar.
  • Sponsor/vender badges for easier show entry
  • Unfortunately The Powerade Centre will not permit us to hold a burnout event.
