Cars of VAGKRAFT
For a number of years, VAGKRAFT has been talking about making a calendar. This year, with the help of VAGKRAFT 1st place winners, we have finally made it happen! At VAGKRAFT 2015, we are excited to debut a sixteen-month (August 2015 – December 2016) calendar populated with cars from the show.
It didn’t seem right though to just look at pretty pictures of these beautiful cars; we needed to know more. As the vehicles modelled for our photographer, we turned the spotlight on the owners to learn about their love of VW, Audi, and the odd BMW. Every week, from now until the show, the VAGKRAFT blog will profile one our calendar beauties, taking a peek at the story behind the car.
Last fall, not long after VAGKRAFT 2014, we brought together as many of our winners as we could for three days of photoshoot. Being featured wasn’t without its challenges for our awesome winners. Getting up early, arriving before dawn in some cases, driving into Toronto and York Region from their homes from all over Ontario, sometimes through hours of traffic, to polish their rides and place them before our photographer’s capable lens.
At the same time, each of them were kind enough to go on record about their cars, and the unique ways they came to join the VW, Audi family. To keep it simple, we asked three questions:
- What have you done to the car?
- What do you think is the most unique feature of the car?
- Why do you Dub/Audi?
The answers to these questions are as varied as the mod choices their owners make. With a mixture of Stock/Mod 1, and Mod 2 vehicles, the responses and stories have delighted and amazed us.
Of course, none of this would have been possible without our uber-talented photographer, Tylyr Lenc. When given the instruction to “photograph the shit” out of each car, he took it heart – almost too well. For many months we have been drooling over, and making hard choices to cut the 2200 images captured, down to less than 20 photographs. Thankfully, after the calendar images were chosen, we can take the rest and feature them on our blog.
Stay tuned this spring to see more of the Cars of VAGKRAFT!
